Have You Been Unknowingly Undermining Your Diet?

We all understand that the very best foods to take in when we want to lose weight are healthy fats, whole grains and lean meats. These will be the foods that give us protein along with energy. They keep our bodies healthy nutritionally but don't stuff us full of empty calories that may later need to be burned off at the gym. Are you aware, however, that a number of the foods you've been thinking are good for your diet program could actually be making you retain weight? They might even be preventing you from slimming down altogether! Check out a number of the food items that might be assisting you to accidentally sabotage your diet.

You are not actually served by Sports Drinks. You've possibly been thinking that the sports drink is the easiest way to help your whole body feel much better after a workout. Many medical professionals agree, though, that if your workout is under ninety minutes, water is a fine way to do this. Sports drinks are full of sugar and calories and a large amount of other things you don't need including artificial flavors and colors which defeat any attempts at eating only natural products. Choose chocolate milk for your beverage as a substitute. The suscrose in the chocolate will help your muscles start to recover and the calcium in milk keeps your bones strong.

Skip that protein shakes. Lots of people feel that protein shakes can be utilized rather than meals and to curb cravings between meals. When you're eating an otherwise healthy diet, however, a protein shake simply sends you into protein overdose. Contrary to popular opinion, protein does not get kept as muscle, it gets stored as fat. This shows that if you have taken in too much protein during the day your body stores what it doesn't need in your fat, which won't help you lose weight or inches at all.



Pre-packaged deli meat isn't very nutritious at all. You might believe that a sandwich made from whole wheat bread and pre-packaged lean deli meat makes for a good lunch. The simple fact is that pre-packaged deli meat is crammed full of preservatives and also about a third of your suggested daily sodium intake. This is going to be specifically dangerous if you are at risk of contracting heart disease. Instead of getting the pre-packaged material, you need to instead use home cooked poultry or freshly sliced meat from your grocery store's deli counter. Yes you'll pay more money for these options but you will be healthier if you choose them.

There are a lot of things that we think will help us shed pounds like eating a whole wheat bagel each morning but the truth is that eating a bowl of oatmeal sprinkled with cinnamon is a lot better for our health and waist lines. Ask your physician exactly what the best means for you to eat healthfully are and then follow those directions. If you are careful about what you eat and treat your body well, losing weight should not be that big of an issue for you!
